Field Day 2019 Update

27 May

Field Day is approaching on Saturday June 22 to Sunday June 23. Once again WARA is taking part, and our location will be Heritage Acres in Central Saanich, as usual. The actual logging of contacts starts at 1200h local time and goes until 1200h Sunday.

The fun starts Saturday morning with breakfast around 0800, and then between 0930 and 1000 we start setting up the tents, radios and antennas. Our long time antenna installation helper Jens brings out his Arborist Sling shot to string wire into the trees for our SSB and CW stations. Hans will be setting up the logging computers and wireless network to log our contacts so we can submit them to the ARRL. As the day goes on, there are usually some local awards to be given out.

We will have Pizza for lunch and again this year, the YL members will be preparing homemade burgers and Chili. WARA will supplying a cake for our club’s 50th anniversary. The Ladies are asking for your contributions of salads, finger food, munchies etc. to round out the evening meal. Thank You Ladies.

Look forward to seeing you there! Frank Andersen VE7GCO and the Field Day committee.
