2019 Amateur Radio Field Day Report
WARA took part in the 2019-06-22/2019-06-23 Field Day at Heritage Acres in Central Saanich. Frank Andersen, VE7GCO, led the Field Day committee for 2019. Hans VE7OES and Al VE7BEU took care of station setup and the logging network. The actual logging of contacts started at 12:00 local time and went until 12:00 Sunday.
The fun started Saturday morning with breakfast around 08:00, and then between 09:30 and 1000 we started setting up the tents, radios and antennas. Our long time antenna installation helper Jens brought out his Arborist Sling shot to string wire into the trees for our SSB and CW stations. Hans set up the logging computers and wireless network to log our contacts for submission to the ARRL. As the day went on, some local awards were given out.
We had Pizza for lunch again this year. The YL members prepared homemade burgers and Chili. WARA supplied a cake for our club’s 50th anniversary. Thank You Ladies.
