WARA invites all hams as well as the general public to participate in ARRL Field Day. The purpose is to make as many contacts as possible and to learn to operate in abnormal situations (temporary antennas and power supplies) and in less than optimal conditions (in shelters and communications trailers). A large number of individuals and clubs across North America take part, so there are many opportunities to make contacts. Last year, 2014, we made over 500 contacts on CW and voice in the HF bands and we certainly plan to meet or beat last year’s score.
Watch an excellent video produced by Chris, VE7ALB/VA7OL, explaining the 2010 Field Day. Field Day Antenna systems are built on site in approximately 2 hours. We have a lot of fun setting up and operating the temporary antennas and the various stations, and enjoying a BBQ dinner together. Visitors are welcome.
