Hello fellow radio operators,
I’m reaching out to solicit volunteers for the annual Tour de Victoria bicycle ride which will be taking place on Saturday, August 15. The Tour is an annual event which covers some 160 km of cycling routes around the Greater Victoria area, and WARA has been pleased to provide communications logistics for the past 4 years now.
The Tour is one of our most complicated public service events; providing volunteer opportunities for radio operators of all skill and experience levels to staff a variety of positions. Everything from static observers along the course route, to mobile positions transporting bicycles/riders, to assisting mechanics, to assisting in headquarters is available. If you have any specific requests, let me know and I’ll do my best to accommodate.
The Tour de Victoria is WARA’s single-largest public service event, requiring over 40 volunteers to fully staff and it can be an incredibly fun experience. I encourage everyone who’s available that day to come out and help us make the 2026 ride a great success.
