There is plenty of parking at Gordon United Church, and there is easy access from the Island Highway (Hwy 1).
From the north/west, turn right on Leigh Road, then left on Goldstream Avenue. From the east turn left onto Millstream Road (Hwy 14), then right onto Goldstream Avenue.
- General admission: 5.00 CAD. Cash is preferred.
- Vendor table: 10.00 CAD. Vendor extra helpers: 5.00 CAD each.
Coffee, tea and muffins will be available for purchase from church volunteers.
There will be a technical table with power supplies and test equipment to allow people to perform basic operational tests on equipment to demonstrate that the equipment is functional before purchase.
Many WARA club members will be available to answer questions from the public about amateur radio. We will also have a Get On The Air station where anyone can talk to other local amateur radio operators under the supervision of an experienced operator. This station will be on the air starting at 08:00 and can help anyone not familiar with the Greater Victoria area having difficulty navigating to Gordon United Church. This station will be connected to the Island Trunk System:
- The Mount McDonald (Victoria area) repeater call sign is VE7RAA.
- The repeater’s receive frequency is 443.575 MHz
- The repeater’s transmit frequency is 448.575 MHz (5.00 MHz plus offset)
- Tone is 136.5 Hz.
We are planning to host a local community emergency radio vehicle in the parking lot, but it’s not confirmed yet.
An ICOM representative will be present to demonstrate and discuss their latest equipment. A hand held ICOM radio is offered as a door prize.
