WARA will once again participate in the annual ARRL Field Day. Please come join us – ALL are welcome!
We need experienced operators, new amateur radio ops, volunteers, in fact anyone interested in radio!
WHEN: Saturday morning June 24th until Sunday morning June 25th. 9AM-12PM (27 hours).
WHERE: just behind the Metchosin Municipal Hall, 4450 Happy Valley Rd, Metchosin (turn in near Fire Hall).
WHAT is Field Day?: an annual opportunity for North American radio amateurs and the public to learn about the hobby of amateur radio, participate in emergency radio preparedness, learn about/practice radio operating skills, help setup and learn about antennas, generators, power supplies, contest style logging, contest style operating, HF SSB, HF CW, mesh networking and possibly (new this year) HF digital mode FT8. And of course to simply socialize and enjoy the hobby of amateur radio and all it has to offer. More info here: https://www.arrl.org/field-day
WE NEED: volunteer assistance with setup on Saturday morning and takedown on Sunday morning. SSB and CW operators for 1-3 hour shifts at either of the stations, volunteer loggers to assist the ops, including overnight shifts Saturday night/ Sunday morning.
NEWLY LICENSED OPERATORS or GENERAL PUBLIC: we will have a 3rd station set up called “Get On the Air” (GOTA), manned by experienced licenced operators where you can use either HF or VHF radios and learn operating skills.
REFRESHMENTS: the club will provide pizza, drinks, refreshments for volunteers and operators only – on the Saturday late afternoon and Sunday morning.

Call- in frequency during the event will be the WARA VE7VIC repeater system: 146.84- (100Hz tone).
(PS: only the 3 official WARA stations will be allowed to operate HF onsite due to interference restraints on those 3 stations and also ARRL Field Day rules. If you wish to operate either of these 3 stations please contact Hans (above)).
