Scope, Timeline and Budget of WARA Projects

Repeater sites:

• Mt. McDonald: Tower replacement at site.
  • 2007 = temporary antennas at site, cleanup the damages from wind storm.
  • 2009 = secure a new tower replacement, install new antennas.
  • 2011 = finalize and sign off CRD Water contract for the site
  • 2011 = finalize contract with Bell Mobility to use their tower.
• Saltspring : Improve current antenna system.
• Saltspring2 South site: Install D-star system VA7DSR, ve7vic at RAC dot ca
• Oak Bay : Complete radio and antenna system replaced Feb.08.
• Sidney
• Sooke: working well
• Triangle: Dstar voice site 2 m and 70 cm repeaters.

Emergency Communications:

• ECT Equipment
  • Boxes and power supplies to support 3 donated VHF radios = completed.
  • Safety Vests - replace missing vests used at marathons. 48 cheap vests were purchased to give to volunteers at these events. 
  • Pelican style cases to replace the "tubs".
  • Find an antenna that might fit better into these cases.
  • A case that could house a radio, computer (c/w WiFi), tnc, power etc.
  • Use one of the large (yellow) cases to house an HF station. (radio, power, antenna etc) and put the VHF equipment in a smaller case.
  • Get some luggage carts suitable for moving the larger cases.
  • Replace some of the older VHF with 144 / 440 radios

• Ham Course - review budget, Advanced Training Course pilot
• Youth Education - HF radio + antennas for Central Middle School

• Royal Victoria Marathon - ditto
• CARHA Hockey - improved presence on WARA web site
