The purpose of Field Day is to make as many contacts as possible and to learn to operate in abnormal situations (temporary antennas and power supplies) and in less than optimal conditions (in shelters and communications trailers). A large number of individuals and clubs across North America take part, so there are many opportunities to make contacts. In 2014 we made over 500 contacts on CW and voice, and in 2015 there were 218 contacts. We like to increase our scores but in the end, it is all for the great experience that we all have.
Watch an excellent video produced by Chris, VE7ALB/VA7OL, explaining the 2010 Field Day. Field Day Antenna systems are built on site in approximately 2 hours. We have a lot of fun setting up and operating the temporary antennas and the various stations, and enjoying a BBQ dinner together. Visitors are welcome.
